Aston Villa’s hopes of securing a top-two finish in the Championship this season took a hit on Tuesday night as they lost 3-1 at home to Queens Park Rangers.
Steve Bruce’s side entered the clash with the R’s off the back of three straight league victories, but suffered a shock loss at Villa Park.
Villa are still third in the Championship, but now sit seven points off second-placed Cardiff City, which is some gap to make up at this stage of the campaign.

The Villa supporters have been pretty pleased with their team in recent weeks, but they were not happy with the performance of full-back Neil Taylor on Tuesday night.
Taylor, who is valued at £4.5m by transfermarkt.co.uk, was actually forced off injured in the early stages of the second period, and is now seen as a doubt for the club’s trip to Bolton Wanderers this weekend.
The 29-year-old has made 25 appearances in all competitions for Villa this season, but he does not seem to have won over the fans, who were also unhappy with Mile Jedinak on Tuesday night.
