Newcastle United will meet Burnley at Turf Moor on Monday night when the Premier League resumes after a two-week hiatus for the international break.
Rafa Benitez has witnessed his side start to turn things around and are currently on a two-game unbeaten run, with back-to-back victories against Watford and AFC Bournemouth.
Although the international break may have come at the wrong time for the Magpies, they will have a sense of confidence about themselves and will feel that they can get a result against Sean Dyche’s men.
Burnley have a similar record to Newcastle so far this season, having won just twice in their 12 Premier League games, whilst their European adventure ended almost as quickly as it started.
However, fans will not want to see a repeat of what happened when the sides met back at the end of January earlier this year.
The two sides played out a 1-1 draw, however, the hosts had the chance to open the scoring in the first half via virtue of a penalty.
Joselu had stepped up to take the spot-kick, however, the Spaniard had his rather tame effort saved by Nick Pope, which left fans furious.
Here are some of their reactions following the missed opportunity…
Things have not improved for Joselu since that miss, as he has continued to struggle to make a real impact in the black-and-white stripes of Newcastle.
There is no doubt that the 28-year-old works hard on the pitch and has a never give up attitude, but he continues to find it difficult to find his feet.
Since arriving at St. James’ Park from Stoke City in 2017, he has found the net just six times in 33 Premier League appearances, which has led to him receiving plenty of criticism from fans on social media.
With Newcastle in the position that they are currently in and with goals needed rather urgently, Benitez-favourite Joselu should not be involved on Monday night, especially given the form that Salomon Rondon has started to produce in front of goal.
